All who register for this trip will have to organize and pay for their own international travel as well as three round trip flights while we are there.We will meet in Bangkok on November 5th. The guided aspect of the trip will end on Nov 20th in Chiang Mai, but we have included a suggested return ticket to Bangkok since most of us will be returning home from there. Accommodations and most meals during the pilgrimage will be included. You should plan to bring additional funds for meals not included, personal expenses, and offerings (dana) to temples and monastics.

Required Flights you will have to purchase, in addition to your roundtrip Thailand ticket, to participate in this trip. This will likely be an additional cost of around $600.

Cambodia & Thailand Pilgrimage Retreat

This year I (Noah Levine) will lead a group to Cambodia and Thailand for a pilgrimage through ancient Buddhist lands, temples, and forest monasteries. We will travel together as a Sangha through Angkor Wat, the temples and streets of the Northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai, and a five day retreat like experience of practicing in a traditional forest monastery.

Joining me on a trip like this is taking on the practice of accepting what’s offered. Part of this kind of pilgrimage is navigating the realities of travel and the challenges of being in a group. There will be beauty, inspiration, and connection—but also moments of discomfort, unpredictability, and growth.

Being in Sangha can be like a ‘rock tumbler’ — by being together, we come into contact with our habits, preferences, and reactions. This is part of the practice. The invitation is to meet it with awareness, patience, and compassion.

Although we will spend time exploring temples, cities, and cultural sites, we will also live simply during our stay in the monastery. Conditions will be basic, we will only eat one meal a day ( as the monks do) and the schedule will be structured. This is an opportunity to practice letting go of control and working with what is offered.

The itinerary reflects our general plan, but my style is fairly spontaneous and things may shift along the way. There may be times where smaller groups choose to explore on their own, and flexibility will be important.

• Cancellation prior to 30 days or more before the trip: $500 cancellation fee (per reservation).
